The DOE’s new Parent University seeks to educate and empower all families from early childhood through adulthood, with free courses, resources, events, and activities. Parents can register for free trainings on a wide range of topics, including adult education, student social-emotional learning, and special education. Please share this resource with your school community by emailing these flyers to families (translated versions of the flyer are available on the Family and Community Empowerment (FACE) family-facing webpage).
The DOE has prepared guidance on Supporting and Partnership with Families of Multilingual Learners, which includes a selection of school-facing and family-facing resources anchored in culturally responsive-sustaining (CRS) family-engagement practices. Topics covered in this guidance include digital readiness and digital literacy, supporting immigrant communities, and English language learner services during and beyond school reopening. Schools are encouraged to review these resources.
It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you back for another incredible school year here at P993Q. I do hope that everyone was able to take some time to unwind and have some fun during the time off.
As we start our 2019-2020 school year, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome each member of our P993Q school community. We are proud of everyone here in our P993Q family! That includes all of the dedicated and experienced staff as well as our enthusiastic learners and their Families. We believe in being a team who works well with one another because we all have our focus on our Children as our number one priority. With us continuing our strong School and Family connections, we hope for continued success throughout the school year for our students this year.
All signs are pointing to another incredible and productive school year. Our skilled and devoted staff have been planning and preparing for your children. Our enthusiastic office team has been registering new families, ordering needed materials and updating student files. Our hard working and conscientious administration have been making sure that all of that the needs of each site are being met. Our much appreciated PA and Parent Coordinator, Natisha Singh are gearing up to welcome families, provide workshops and other exciting events and programs. We are indeed a joyous and caring community with the common goals of nurturing responsible, caring students and promoting high-level learning. One of our missions here is to cultivate a community of lifelong learners by empowering our students with a safe and nurturing environment. We work with our students with quality instruction, and community collaborations.
A special thank you to all who continue to make our school flourish. Your commitment to insuring that P993Q remains a celebrated and successful school is awe-inspiring. I eagerly look forward to greeting students, families and staff again as we begin this new school year. It remains an honor to serve as your principal. Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for all children.
