Dear Parents, Guardians and loved ones.

February 2021

My name is Jonathan Lonshein, and I have both the honor and privilege of assuming the reigns of leadership as the Interim Acting Principal of P993Q until a new principal is appointed. Prior to this, I have been an Assistant Principal at P993Q for our revered and now retired former Principal Jacqueline Zaretsky.

Everyone across the school community will miss Ms. Zaretsky’s purposeful leadership, her infectious smile, depth of instructional knowledge, equaled only by her kindness and of course her universal presence in our day-to-day activities.  We wish her the very best of joy in her retirement and know that Ms. Zaretsky’s profound contributions to our students will live on always.

Our lives are radically different now than they were one year ago. Despite the numerous changes and challenges we have experienced; I want to assure you that the accomplished staff of P993Q will continue to provide highly effective and exceptional instruction to our students. I will not hesitate to tout the quality of instruction and the immense dedication of our teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers that I have observed over the years.

Thank you for entrusting your precious children to the P993Q community; we will continue to put them first and their safety will be our utmost priority.  I encourage you to reach out to me, to any of the assistant principals or the parent coordinator with questions, thoughts, and concerns. I look forward to meeting with you all virtually and in-person in the coming days and weeks. Please continue to be on the look-out for on-going communications from the Department of Education and our P993Q community.

Thank you very much.

Respectfully,

Jonathan Lonshein
